These Terms of Service govern your use of the Shortlist mobile application operated by Modia LLC ("we", "our", or "us").
By creating an account or using Shortlist, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
You create an account by signing in with a phone number, Apple, or Google. You are responsible for keeping that account secure, and for everything done through it. You must be at least 13 years old to use Shortlist.

Shorty's recommendations, summaries and written taste profiles are produced by AI models and can be wrong. Treat them as suggestions, not statements of fact, and check anything that matters. Do not send Shorty information you would not want processed by a third-party model provider. We may limit how many messages you can send in a period, and paid plans may carry a usage allowance which is described at the point of purchase.
Paid subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through your App Store account, and are managed there. Payment is taken at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies. Prices may change; we will tell you before a change takes effect.
When you import from Letterboxd, you confirm the account you name is yours, or that you are otherwise entitled to import it. We read only publicly accessible pages and never ask for that service's credentials. Matching your titles to our catalogue is automatic and imperfect; review what is imported.
You retain ownership of content you create, including ratings, reviews, comments, list names and descriptions, and movie-room messages. By posting or sharing content, you grant us a limited license to host, moderate, and display it as needed to operate the app and its social features. Movie-room discussions persist so people can join after they watch the same title; a shared-list link remains available to people who have it until its owner revokes it.
You agree not to:
Shortlist has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. You agree not to post, share, or transmit content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable, and not to abuse, harass, or harm other users.
To keep the community safe, Shortlist provides tools that let you:
We review reports of objectionable content and abusive users and will remove offending content and/or remove the offending user within 24 hours of receiving a report. We may also limit features or suspend accounts that violate these terms, and automated filters may reject a movie-room post or hold it for review before it becomes visible to other users. By using Shortlist you acknowledge and agree to this end-user license agreement and its no-tolerance policy for objectionable content.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time through the app settings.
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy of recommendations or content metadata. Streaming availability information is sourced from third parties and may not always be current, and we are not responsible for what any streaming service does or does not carry. Film and television metadata is provided by TMDB; Shortlist is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Modia LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
