Shortlist ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Shortlist mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

Account Information

We use Sign in with Apple for authentication. When you create an account we receive a unique Apple account identifier and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address. If you use Apple's Hide My Email feature, we only ever receive a private relay email address. We use this information solely to create and secure your account.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you use the app, including movies and TV shows you rate, add to your watchlist, or mark as watched. This data powers personalized recommendations.

Device Information

We may collect device identifiers for push notification delivery and analytics purposes.

How We Use Your Information

• Authentication: Your Apple account identifier is used to sign you in and secure your account. We never use your contact information for marketing.
• Personalization: Your ratings and viewing history power AI-driven movie and TV recommendations.
• Social features: If you choose to follow other users, your activity may be visible to them.
• Notifications: With your consent, we send push notifications about recommendations and friend activity.

Sign in with Apple

We authenticate exclusively through Sign in with Apple. We do not collect or store passwords, and we do not collect phone numbers. Apple shares only a stable account identifier and, at your discretion, your name and email (or a Hide My Email relay address). You can review or revoke this app's access at any time in iOS Settings → your name → Sign in with Apple.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate the app:

• Apple: Sign in with Apple authentication
• Supabase: Authentication and database hosting
• TMDB: Movie and TV show metadata
• OpenRouter: AI processing for the Shorty assistant. When you chat with Shorty, your messages and relevant taste data are sent to OpenRouter (and its underlying model providers) to generate recommendations. This data is used only to fulfill your request and is not used to train third-party models or for advertising.

Moderation Data

When you report content or block another user, we store the report and block records to operate our safety tools and review objectionable content. Reports are visible only to you and our moderation systems.

Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time through the app settings.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), secure authentication tokens, and row-level security on our database.
